Yes, you can! My debut album is the proof of that. Nevertheless, composing without knowing the notes has its difficulties, of course. If you can read the notes and you have a music education, composing is much less time-consuming. I, on the other hand, rely completely on my ear and taste. Another disadvantage of not being able to write down your own notes is that you have to keep a large quantity of information in your head before you have an expert write it down. Even though I record everything on video so that I don’t waste time, I make sure I remember my new material before it gets written down.
